      Re-connection issues

      Hi all,

      A brief history:
I have been with Sky BB (Max) for about 2 months now averaging speeds @ 3Mbps, I am on the Worthing West exchange. I have discovered that my exchange is ADSL Max enabled, could my line be capped or has this happened to other customers?

I had to disconnect the Netgear router for a week and a half because my house is being decorated and now I have plugged the router back in and the connection is somewhere between 512K and nothing. Is there anything I can do to correct this (avoiding the tech. support route if at all possible)? Has anyone else has this problem of connecting fine then re-connecting at very slow speeds?
      confused.....

If you can post your router stats it may be easier for one of the tech minded guys to see if the line is capped.

Log into 192.168.0.1 admin and sky unless you have changed the password and you can copy and paste your stats from there.

      Re: Re-connection issues

Thanks sassylady, will do. At work now (boo) will do when i get home. One thing i forgot to mention was that sometimes i cant even log in to the Netgear webserver. After turning the Netgear off/on the connection is as expected then virtually stops, if im quick enough ill log on and collect the stats.

      Thanks.

I am no expert but the stats are looking really good, with no evidence that the line is capped your downlead speed is near the maximum (I would like them) so I am not sure why your downloads are so slow, so perhaps someone else can help you out NR or Saturday or others!

      Re: Re-connection issues

I too am suffering from the same, good sync (12000) and snr good (7db) but get poor download speeds. I am on the neighbouring exchange from worthing west , Littlehampton.

Its a nightmare as before cap was removed i was kicking at 7mb now uncapped I am lucky to hit 1mb

Try reading the Northampton thread as you all seen to be from one area! Maybe the gremlins from northampton are working their wicked way around the country or matbe a conspiracy plot from Virgin?

      Re: Re-connection issues

      Sorted:
I connected my laptop to router via ethernet and disabled wireless temporarily, ran speed test and results came back at average 12MB. Disconnected from router, activated wireless then ran speed test again and exactly the same result, 12MB average. Now connection has been stable, fast and generally much much better, very strange.
