Saving (I mean REALLY saving) user/pass for router login?

Anyone managed to get Firefox or IE7 to save the user/pass for the Netgear router?

The usual 'save password' option does work but not if you reboot or turn off/on the router in the same session.

      Anyone?

Yes, I use a program called IE Privacy Keeper to do this. It is free and has a tab for Firefox stuff and will save web log-ins and the like.

Big fan of IE Privacy keeper but it's failing here. It does save the password/user but not if I reboot or turn off/on on the same session (ie not restart the PC etc).

In the IE Privacy Keeper saved section there is only one item that's saved:

For some reason the same-session password/user isn't saved (the above fields are blank) by Firefox 2.0 or IE Privacy Keeper.

Re: Saving (I mean REALLY saving) user/pass for router login?

Remember that I am using the Firefox options so I don't know if they are different on IE, but under the Firefox tab in IE there is a 'saved password' option and then there is an entry for - "192.168.0.1:80 (NETGEAR DG834GT)", my box is ticked as that is why it works for me.

Re: Saving (I mean REALLY saving) user/pass for router login?

Thanks, yeah I have that too:

Not sure where the problem is because it's there with XP and Vista and IE7 and Firefox 2.0 and when I remove IEPrivacy Keeper and just use Firefox's options.

I reckon the router might be doing something because IEPrivacy Keeper has always worked perfectly.

Re: Saving (I mean REALLY saving) user/pass for router login?

For Firefox what I do is create a bookmark tab with the password included i.e:
      http://USERNAME:PASSWORD@192.168.0.1

then just click that and it logs in.

      Other than that use KeePass.

Thanks very much that first option as it seems to work. Excellent tip.

I'll take a look at KeePass too as it looks very interesting!
