      Sky Broadband Keeps disconnecting problem

Hi there, I've just moved from Telewest to Sky. I have the whole package with Broadband Max. The TV side is great. My broadband connection has been a nightmare. It keeps disconnecting and the only way to resolve this is by resetting the router and repairing the IP link (sometimes I have to reboot as well). It's not a firewall problem as I've completely removed my firewall and switched off Windows firewall and it still keeps happening. My other Netgear USB wireless cards (111's) won't even work with this router. Strangely enough, I can connect to the Internet through other peoples unsecured wireless routers in my area (only for testing purposes!) so I reckon it's the router or the service from Sky. I'm angry because the cable service I left behind was 8mb + and seemless for over 5 years. I've searched on Google and there are hundreds of Sky users complaining about the same problem which is very concerning. My one experience with the support people was dire. After a 35 minute rate I was told how to reset the router. Does anyone know what's going wrong here and how this can be fixed?

      thanks in advance

      DC

Sigh...If you check the forum you will see that uPnP has a bug in the router. Turn it off......

To be fair ossie, not everyone reads every post or even thinks about the search facility when first joining up and then posting.

If you look to the bottom of that you will see the UPnP mentioned, turn it off and try again.

Re: Sky Broadband Keeps disconnecting problem

it could be just your power management needs disableing,i disabled mine and it hasnt disconnected since, here is what you do....Left click on your monitors, bottom right of your screen, left click on network and sharing, left click on manage network connections, double left click on local area connection, with the 2 blue monitors.Go into properties, then click on configure, then click on power management, where it says Allow computer to turn off this device to save power, untick the box by left clicking then press ok.Mine was diconnecting when i wasnt active on the internet obviously to save power but it was annoying having to turn off router, then turn back on again.
