      Sky MAC???

I've just been on the phone to Sky CS screaming because my BB is still not on and it was activated on the 24th Jan. I sent a cancellation letter on the 12th Feb which was not responded to.

Just spoke to Laura at Sky and she said because of all my trouble she will cancel the account today and send me a MAC by mail + credit my account. I didn't think you could have a MAC on LLU????

Also by some strange miracle I was on the BE website and my exchange was enabled this week

Does this mean I can give a Sky MAC to BE? I hope so.

      Re: Sky MAC???

Laura at Sky was wrong m8 as you cannot get a MAC code for the BASE/MID/MAX packages as you have rightly said they are LLU enabled, the only MAC SKY can provide is for the CONNECT package.

      Re: Sky MAC???

I thought under the new OFCOM regs all BB providers had to provide a MAC on request no matter what circuit you're on?

      Re: Sky MAC???

Laura at Sky is correct, under the new regs that started recently, doesnt matter if ur on LLU package or Connect, Sky must give cust leaving a MAC code.

MAC code is to be used to make the move from an ISP to another as smooth as possible,

Only time MAC wouldnt be given is if cust cancelling and not moving to another ISP at all, would just cease the broadband on the system.

gareth824 is on the MAX package, hence an LLU line, and MAC codes will NOT be given out from SKY unless the customer was on the CONNECT package.

This is a FACT, oh and I know where i work and also know my job

Well I work tech support for Homechoice. All our lines are LLU and as of 14th February, under the new OFCOM regs our retentions dept. are required to give out a MAC code to anyone who asks for one.

Also, I have just switched successfully from UK Online to SkyBB (both on the Easynet LLU circuit) - I handed over my MAC code on 13th Feb. I've had my confirmation letter from Sky and I've received my netgear router from them.

      Re: Sky MAC???

I know 100% what I am talking about and I also know the new OFCOM ruling as of last week. A MAC code CAN be supplied from any provider but getting one from an LLU line is as good as a chocolate kettle.

Anyone on an LLU line must have there service completely closed down and then an additional 3-5 days for the line to be cleared in order for any other provider to go on that line.

I know exactly what I am talking about and without being hasty if I were you I would seek advise on this matter before mis-informing everyone.

      Re: Sky MAC???

eh i dont think so !!

would advise yourself to go get the correct info about MAC codes now.

only time a LLU package is cancelled is if cust is not moving to another ISP,

if they are moving ISP, the account is still active on the system till new ISP informs us of they are now gonna take the customers business.

what dept do u work in then?
