help dont know what to do!?

i have had really slow speeds since the day i connected. Ran sky told them bout it they passed it to tier 3, i thought that they would sort it well i was wrong.
Never got a reply at all i had to ring them up to speak to them they said they would tell BT to look at it ( this was over 6 weeks ago now).
The lady capped my line to 5mbs and said that she woud open my margins up (dont know what that is though). this worked at first but now back to normal.
this has being going on for ages and dont know what to do cause they said it should be fine now and BT dont seen to be doing anything either nor do sky what should i do?

My stats for my line are:

Re: help dont know what to do!?

In the vast majority of cases poor connection speeds are nothing to do with Sky or BT so you probably can't blame them for not fixing anything. What you can blame them for is not telling you what to do.

The most common cause of poor connections, by far, is noise being generated within your home phone wiring, most times from an extension.

First thing to do is try a connection with your router plugged directly into the test socket which you'll find behind the faceplate of your master socket (assuming you have an NTE5). Post your stats so we can see what difference this has made.

Second, spend a bit of time reading through the forum - particularly the stickies and start with the cabling and faceplate help forum. Almost every problem any SkyBB customer could possibly have is covered somewhere and it is a tremendous resource - if only people would read it.

You are never going to get fantastic speeds with your attenuation (see first sticky in my signature) but if you are able to clean up your line noise then you could expect a connection speed of ~5750kbps, nearly 3 times what you have now.

      HTH
