Are you connected wirelessly or via ethernet cable?

      Who was your previous ISP?

      How were you connected?

You have fairly good figures and its strange that you would report bad speeds.

      Re: Dismally Poor Speed

My connection is through Ethernet on the NETGEAR modem.

My previous ISP was... hate to say it... NTL.

I was connect Via ethernet cable when I was with them.

I have no clue why im getting bad speeds. Just last week my connection wasn't working for couple hours and since then im having troubles. I actually turned to Sky when leaving NTL, I hope I don't get disappointed again.

      Your stats say different

Connection Speed Down-7616 kbps Up-768 kbps
Line Attenuation 35.0 db 23.5 db
Noise Margin 7.4 db 14.0 db

Says your speed is 7616, MAX is up to 16mb - to obtain that sort of speed you would have to be near the exchange.

I will split this thread off so we don't hijack Susie's thread

But they are kind of related - both are about speed issues, not getting 16MB because, to be fair, I don't think anyone really expects that, but about getting something consistent and something that approximates the 'high speed broadband' experience.

Is this when downloading or is general surfing slow?

Couple of things you can try:

      1) Turn off UPNP

      http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/view-routerstats.html

Read that guide towards the bottom it shows you where th UPNP is to turn off

      2) Optimise Your Computer!

They are kind of but it is easier to have a seperate thread for each issue / person so we can dedicate help if you get what I mean

Do you actually mean 70KB (I wouldn't have thought you could actually use a computer at that speed....) or do you mean 7MB? If you are getting 7MB then I'd keep quiet about it - you are in the minority of people getting a fast connection. The fact that you don't get 16MB is academic - what you have is a fast connection and, to be honest, if it were me I could sleep easy at night.
