      Speed has dropped below 10%

I have just gotten home from a week away and the speed of my Sky BB is less than 10% of the total according to DSLZone speed tests. Before I went away it was always over 90%. I have rebooted the router and that made no difference.

My distance from the exchange is 960 metres. The exchange status shows as red whatever that means. Here are my router stats. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Re: Speed has dropped below 10%

No idea whats causing it, But I've had the same problem for the last three days, My router stats are roughly the same as yours, and I am not having any disconnection or latency problems.
I'm on the Max package, the router is syncing at 8000/768 but download speeds have dropped from 850KB/s to 50-150KB/s
I've got a ticket open with Tier 3 and am awaiting a callback.
One thing I noticed today is I can still download full speed from some sites
These server works fine, they are both U.S based.
      NVIDIA Demo: Cascades
Download details: .NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable Package

      Here's a couple that don't, they are U.K based.
      ftp://ftp.multiplay.co.uk/pub/games/...06/demo/win32/
www.downloads.jolt.co.uk - Online Gaming - Clan Server Rental - jolt downloads

Perhaps you could test your own connection, It could be something to do with the way Sky are routing certain traffic atm

Re: Speed has dropped below 10%

thanks, I tried the Nvidia one and got over 800 kbps and about 80 kbps on the first UK one quite a difference!

I spoke to Sky tech support today 3 times. First guy, Asian, wouldn't help me unless I plugged in the yellow cable as I don't have a netgear wireless adapter. I don't have the yellow cable here so had to find another one so phoned back and got an Irish guy, he told me that it was BTs fault as they were doing work in the exchange so I phoned BT and they said they weren't doing work and my line was fine and that the problem is Sky's. So I phoned Sky back and got an Irish lassie.

She said I should never have been put onto BT as it is Sky's equipment in the exchange! Anyway she said my line seemed to be working fine from her end but has passed it up to Tier 3 who will phone back in a day or three with a solution..

Thanks for the reply, I'm in Wokingham and don't know how far you are away from me but it seems we've both got the same problem, It's definitely something sky need to sort out because we're not even on the same exchange. I will call broadband support tomorrow and advise them on this, maybe they are already aware of a problem and haven't told us.

Cool Re: Speed has dropped below 10%

Fountainbridge is in Edinburgh, Scotland. The most famous former resident of Fountainbridge, a milkman, went on to become a Hollywood great does that ring any bells!

Re: Speed has dropped below 10%

Exactly the same for me, I usually get rock-solid 7000 kbps on speed tests but since Friday this has dropped off to around 500kbps. I have not changed anything my end and the sync is still around 8192kbps d/s with a decent SNR of around 13dB. Exchange is Orpington LSORP (SE London/NW Kent).

Ticket logged with 3rd level, by the time they get back to me the problem will most likely be solved
