Can I see who 'owns' my line?

I ordered Sky BB on the 5th of Feb. Activation date set for 14th Feb. Was still with old ISP this morning.. Now, my line went dead. Can't ping it from work anymore. No router arrived yet.

So, is there a way I can check who is providing BB service to my house? From work?

Sky don't have a clue what they are talking about. They insist the line went active on the 14th... yet, I was online this morning with my Zen username/password. They say I am wrong. But anyway....

No router, no username, no password! How exactly do they believe I have been using Sky since the 14th?!

Anyways, Any help? If my line is dead, is it just a case of changing setting on my router (Same model Sky gives out, but without Sky firmware), and I'll be on?

You seem to be having the same problem as me. Why are they activating lines without sending out the routers? Have you even had your activation letter? Mine was supposedly sent on Monday and now it's Friday!

The user name and password is "hidden" inside the router. There are ways to get it out if you have the router but Sky won't/can't tell you it beforehand. I'm thinking of pushing them for it though if I still haven't got the router tonight. Incidentally my line apparently went live on 13/2/07 and I can't access my old ISP.

      Great! I'm not alone!

Did I mention that I was informed by Sky customer care, that I was getting Sky BB already, and had been since the 14th, but yet, I have been connected to the net - even this morning, but don't have the box yet, nor my username/password!

She said that that is impossible. She was adiment that Sky was servicing my property. I explained that I am still connected with ZEN, as my router details are using my zen username/password.

She then told me, and wait for it...

"You're getting broadband from Sky AND Zen at the moment..."

Wow! I never knew I could get broadband at my propertry on the same line from 2 ISPs. I am learning things from Sky that are - Unbelievable...

      What tosh!!!

I feel your pain man. In the words of Michael Jackson, 'You are not alone....'.

You do get the odd helpful one though. So praise to them working in that hell-hole, but thr vast majority... poor..

To go back to your original query, if you click this link it should show your IP address, provider etc.
My IP Address Lookup / IP Locator / Trace IP / What is my ip

      ring bt wholesale on 0800 169 0934 during these hours: Monday - Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 8am - 12pm.
and ask them who the tag belongs to, just tell them you are having problems with who is resposible for the line and they should tell you

Re: Can I see who 'owns' my line?

Hi if you can't log onto you original provider with they router/modem and you have a dsl light lit on it, you are on the sky network.
Your password etc is in the sky router just plug it in and away you go when you get it. and if you want to get into sky router setting the password etc is admin and sky so as soon as you get it change the password.
