Should I ditch NTL/Virgin for Sky Max?

      Hi

I'm in a right pickle here... I'm currently paying 35 a month for Virgin Media 10MB Broadband.. The 10/m Sky Max service is tempting, BUT..

I don't have a BT Landline and it would cost 160 to install one.. The thing is they can't tell me what speed I'm likely to get until the line is active.. From samknows site, it tells me I'm just under a mile from my exchange (Darlington) and that Sky/Easynet is active...

But even if this is the case and I can get Sky's 16MB service.. I keep hearing things about users getting 'capped' at 2.5MB because of line errors and also I'm hearing lots of problems regarding routers needing to be rebooted all the time..

The impression I'm getting is that Sky's Broadband just isn't reliable... Is this generally the feeling with everyone?

Can I ask for former users of NTL 10MB service that now use Sky Max to comment.. Has your experience with Sky been good or bad compared to NTL?

      Thanks for any info

      Jon

Don't forget you would also have to pay line rental to BT as well.

It has been reliable for me with constant speeds at all times of the day.

All I can say for my connection - absolutely awesome. Long time and struggle getting it, but well worth it.

However I accept I am not representative of everyone.
