    Is Your IP Static?

      Cool Is Your IP Static?

      Hi, is the ip sky gives you static or dynamic, i can't find any mention of this on there website

      Hi there, It will be dynamic. A static IP address will cost you extra monies if they're available from sky. Make a note of your IP address (on the router status page), then power cycle your router and then check the IP address again...I think you will find that It has changes. Meaning It's dynamic.

      Its dynamic with no option to pay more for static I am afraid.

      Like they said it's dynamic only on sky BUT the router supports dyndns. Check out Dynamic Network Services, Inc. -- DynDNS -- Welcome.

      It allows you to have a name like something.dyndns.org that will always resolve to your current IP address.

      PS. I've not actually tried the ROUTER'S dyndns stuff but I do use dyndns via a linux box and it's great.

      OOPS. Forgot to mention it's free for personal use.
