      Exclamation Speed dropped by half :( Help

      I am on the Sky Connect package (5 P/M). While i was in the 10 day training period my speeds were always between 1.5 meg and 2 meg. I never had any drop outs and all seemed very stable.

      As soon as the 10 day training period was over my speeds are now just less than 1 meg (this is less than i was getting with AOL and that was not a max product!).

      Have looked and my router is syncing at about 1850 or so which should give me about 1.5 meg's or there abouts.

      Phoned sky and they said my line is capable of 2meg + and thats is what the BT wholesale checker also says. They put me through to tier 2 who are doing a line check and then phoning me back in 48 hours (i will not hold my breath!)

      Now i know i have a long line (63.5 db ) but if it was stable at 1.5 - 2 meg why drop to less than 1 meg?

      Any advice guys?

      i shouldnt worry they will prob put u through to teir 3 and they will bring ur speed up hopefully

      Not on that line they won't I'm afraid. In any event T3 can only pass the problem to BT with Connect.


      @dirty harry

      Your line is generating a very high number of errors. Most probably you have very poor internal phone wiring and quite possibly are connecting via an extension?

      Have a look at the cabling and faceplate help forum. Until you sort your line noise out you will never get a good connection.
