      Hi there,

Total newb here but further to ^^^^ I have tried this but have stumbled somewhat. I subscribe to newzbin and am fairly up to speed with how it works. Installed GrabIt but I think I have failed in what info to put for the server, because it consistently fails to connect. Any way you could give a quick step by step?

      TIA,

      Sunil

The term Newsgroup retention simply refers to the length of time newsgroup articles are made available on the news server. Newsgroup retention is an important aspect of Newsgroup activity. The longer the newsgroup retention rate the more likely you are to find the article or file you want and download it successfully onto your personal computer.

It can happen that you’ll begin downloading a file only to find that it is no longer available on the news server. This means that the article has been removed.

      Re: Newsgroup Question

Retention time is the amount of time the downloadable material is held on the server before disappearing.

Giganews has the longest retention of 100 days so you basically have 100 days to download from the time it first appears on the server.

      Re: Newsgroup Question

I use Giganews as a server and Newsbin to download. Giganews has a European server and offers a $10 discount on a dedicated version of Newsbin. With a registered version of Newsbin, you can get a maximum of 10 connections which helps speed up downloads.
