      Here's a good one

I just phoned NTL to check how I cancel their service if the Sky is reliable.

The guy on NTL cancellations told me that after a year, Sky were going to charge you 14.99 for the base package.

Is there ANY truth in this?

      LOL

Some ISP's will say anything to keep customers.

Even if Sky do charge you 14.99 for your broadband after one year:

      1) Its worth it imho

      2) Its 10.00 less even at that price than I was paying

      3) You can go to another ISP as your contract would be over

Looking at the offers that Virgin / NTL / Blueyonder are offering today, I would not even contemplate changing to them. To me they have dropped the ball and given the market to Sky. How mad is that? Sky are just going to clean up now.

The only serious rivals to Sky were Virgin / NTL / Blueyonder and they have confirmed that they no longer are.

It's only worth changing to Sky if you have the TV as well.

As I am more likely to sell a Kidney than loose the football, even though it's a rip-off. I might as well take the broadband.

      Re: Here's a good one

I left Telewest / Virgin last month because they were 25 quid a month for a 2Mb service. When I told them of 19.99 Orange deal ( I hadn't even stumbled accross the Sky deal yet) they refused to drop their price at all saying that ADSL is an inferior technology to cable and so I can't compare prices!
Needles to say I cancelled there and then, they really couldn't cancel my account and get me off the phone quick enough. They must be making too much money already or something! (Sarcasm ;-) )
Then I suddenly remembered the Sky mailshot I'd had and when I found out I could get 8Mb for a fiver I was chuffed to bits!
So far (only 2 weeks) it's been an 8Mb reliable service for a fifth of the price I used to pay for less. If that's an inferior technology then bring it on I say!

You should have strung him a long for a bit and asked him how he knew about this.

I think we all know that the prices will rise but as pointed out about as I was paying a penny under 30 it is going to be a number of years before the cost reaches that amount, if at all with the increased competition in the broadband market.
