Rebooting router daily to get max speed

      Hi all,

I've had Sky Max broadband for a few weeks now and everything is great. Really fast speeds etc. However, on a daily basis when I go on the net on a evening it seems slow. I do a speed test and its less the 1000kbps. I reboot the router and its OK again.

      Anyone any ideas?

      Thanks in advance.

Re: Rebooting router daily to get max speed

When your speed is good, what is your Noise Margin.
When your speed is poor, what is your Noise Margin.

The NM will tend to drop from 6pm onwards.

By default the router sync with teh max speed for a NM of 7db.

If you had synched during the day, then the NM would drop to an unacceptable level during teh evening, which a reboot would then sort. (a NM of less than 6db will see an unstable connection).

When you reboot in the evening, do you reboot at all before the next evenings reboot?

Re: Rebooting router daily to get max speed

      My current stats:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 15323 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 22.0 db 12.3 db
Noise Margin 9.3 db 12.0 db

Never looked before when its poor. I will check next time. My normal activity is to come home from work. Switch the laptop on. If its slow reboot the router. Switch off laptop at night. Same again the next day. I don't have to reboot again in the evening cos its fine after the reboot. I've been doing speed test all evening and its fine.
