Thumbs down Capped? - Speeds have dropped drastically

I've just returned home after a few days and checked my stats, which report:

      Link Power State: L0
      Mode: G.DMT
      Channel: Interleave
      Trellis: ON
      Line Status: No Defect
      Training Status: Showtime
      Down Up
      SNR (dB): 15.8 14.0
      Attn(dB): 39.0 24.5
      Pwr(dBm): 19.7 0.4
      Max(Kbps): 9152 1152
      Rate (Kbps): 6144 256

Most noticeably is my upload speed which has dropped from 768 to 256!! What has happened?? I've rebooted the router several times and shows the same stats every time.

Re: Capped? - Speeds have dropped drastically

Hi, I've just got a ticket raised with Tier 3 about this, but reading through this forum it seems like this has happened to a few other users too. I'm not a big downloader at all, probably lucky if I'm using more than 5gigs a month at the moment.

This isn't anything to do with being a heavy downloader, it's in response to a ticket you will have open for an intermittent/slow connection. You should receive a letter about it in the next couple of days with Tier 3 contact details if it hasn't resolved the problem you reported.

      Sorry, I don't understand your reply. I haven't had a slow/intermittent connection or have I opened a ticket.

Re: Capped? - Speeds have dropped drastically

to me this looks a bit suspect
      Pwr(dBm): 19.7 0.4
is the 0.4 correct because mine is
      Pwr(dBm):18.5 12.1

if it is correct then i would say that was your problem

Yer mines exactly the same. gone down to about 2 mb. not checked upload will do when i get home.
Hopefully its a glitch in there system and not anything major.

      Just found this.
Easynet UK > Support > Status Information

seems like it is an easynet problem. (for those who dont know sky is on the easynet network/backbone.)

Re: Capped? - Speeds have dropped drastically

      hi,

i know this is an older thread but thought best to post here rather than start a new thread.

now, i have had sky BB since september and had no problems so far......BUT over the last few days i have noticed that my Xbox Live play and my downloads have suffered a servere hit.

when i checked my router stats i had noticed that my upstream had benn capped from 768 to 256!!!

when i rang sky all they said was because it was during peak hours. i said no and that it has been capped by sky but i dont think that she understood.

has anyone had this resolved yet?

Re: Capped? - Speeds have dropped drastically

      update,

this time i phone customer services not tech support and they are now telling me that i cant get 768 upload due to my distance from the exchange (my line att on upstream is 31.5 and noise margine 13.0db) ......this is wrong otherwise i wouldbn;t of had it since september.....what is going on
