I'm having trouble moving to Sky Mid from Orange, as apparently BT are rejecting my Orange MAC. Now I have to cancel Orange and wait for Sky.

Where can I put my phone number and postcode to check the LLU?
      Thanks

You can either check via the Sky Broadband website and it will tell you if your exchange is unbundled by offering you the Base, Mid and Max packages or you can try the 'Sam Knows' site.

Thanks. Just tried the 'Sam Knows', and apparently we're not unbundled for Orange. However, Sky say my MAC has been rejected by BT, as it was a double order (???!!??). Orange wonder if Sky accept LLU. They suggest I should cancel Orange, go without BB for 2 weeks, then get Sky. Seems Orange like to make it really difficult to leave or Sky make it difficult to join. Still mulling this over, but thanks for the site anyway.

Now I have received my MAC code from orange however I rung sky today and they said that the orange mac codes do not work with their system and I would have to cancel my orange account and then ring sky back...

I was wandering if anyone else has been through this situation and was wandering what was the best route to take?

Also, how long will the process take?

      Thank you!
I had exactly the same issue. My MAC code was rejected twice by Sky. I then had to cancel my Orange account and wait three weeks before I was reconnected to Sky. I was told the same by the advisor that 98% of MAC codes from Orange fail and that I should cancel my Orange account, wait for my line to clear and then transfer over. I did this. But remember there is the month's notice you have to give your current ISP, so bear that in mind.

      Regards,

      Teg

Re: Switching to Sky Broadband from Orange (HELP!)

I moved from Orange too = back in March. My mac code was accepted by Sky and on the due date my service from Orange ceased but....the Sky service didn't work straight away (although the BB light on the router was lit). A couple of calls to Sky CS (who are so much better/quicker than Orange) and about a week later it was working. Since then no problems, no drops, reasonably fast even using extension. The browsing speed is sometimes slower than I'd wish otherwise fine and a bargain.

Hope it works for you too.

i moved from orange to Sky and it appears from my credit card bill that orange are still charging me. Sky service started on the 30th jan exactly on the date they suggested, yet orange billed me for feb, still waiting for my refund but guess what? they billed me for march instead, i was expecting CR 14.99

Sorry you have had to find it out like this but you should always cancel your old ISP when you are up and running with the new one as the chances are they will continue to bill you. This almost happened to me but I had stopped the direct debit so they couldn't take another month's money. The sent me a nice letter saying they would cancel my account with them if I didn't pay up and in the end it took almost two months for them to pay few a few quid that they owed me due to the billing dates and that I had already paid for part of the month that I moved ISPs.

Re: Switching to Sky Broadband from Orange (HELP!)

orange admitted the error after implying it was a BT issue and incorrect use of the MAC by Sky. after checking it out with their disconnections, they have promised me a refund for 3 months. apparently they have billed me for april as well!

offcourse this wouldnt have happened if they allowed me to delete my credit card details from my orange account and by the 30th January, my account was no longer accessible, i thought that meant closure of my account and i would no longer be billed - how wrong i was.....

That is what I thought but as we have both found out that isn't the case. It should be but it doesn't happen. I stopped the direct debit so they couldn't get their hands on anymore of my money once I had started with Sky.
