      Technical question re cancelling sky

Gave them until today to get back to me with some form of commitment as to when they will give me the service I'm paying them for. Not heard anything and frankly don't expect to so assume I'll be terminating the contract on grounds of breach.

Query is when I do terminate do I need a MAC code to go elsewhere or not given that sky is an LLU ? Or do I just need them to cease provision and remove tags / markers from my line.

How long have others found its taken to transfer away from sky - are they as bad at letting you go as they are at providing a connection ?

Sorry to see this is still on going mate and I don't blame you but you are now about to let yourself in for more problems if you do cancel.

A MAC is of no use as for now you cannot migrate form LLU to LLU or IPStream so a cease would be needed with luck this will all change on the 14th Feb.

I hope you can move a lot quicker if thats the road you go down and good luck with what ever you do.

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

U sure - just spoken to Zen - who the consumer assoc rate as a best buy internet provider - and they say I should ask sky for a MAC as they can accept one from an LLU ?

I agree that Zen are a great ISP was with them myself before coming to SkyBB its possible they have that abbility but as far as I know they can only accept them for LLU to there LLU enabled exchanges and as they only have 4 in the North West its not much use to anyone in London.

As for moving back to IPStream to the best of my knowledge BT will knock back any such request as a cease and reproved are required.

Good luck if they can help

Re: Technical question re cancelling sky

Well I've asked for a MAC and sky tell me they've applied for one (so it could be true) but it has to come by post and will take 5 working days. Strange isn't it in the electronic age that things like this still have to be trusted to the mail - presumably all the carrier pigeons are busy.

As I understand it the MAC code route has two advantages over a cease. Apparently Zen wont charge me a 47 set up fee this way and - in the highly unlikely event that sky do get their arses in gear and sort out the mythical cabling issue at my exchange before the code has a) reached me and b) been given to Zen then I can just not use it, let it expire and live happily ever after with sky.

Must go now as a pig has just flown past the window !
