Question LLU to LLU Migrations (UK Online to Sky)

      Hello All,

Does anyone know when Sky will be providing LLU to LLU migration functionality?

Will this start from 14th Feb as per Ofcom or will they need more time to put something in place?

Have been looking to move to Sky for a while now but can only do so through a MAC migration as I can't afford to be without Internet Access for more than a few days...

      Welcome to the site Ace

I would like to think that is the case but knowing BTW I doubt it will be that easy and it could take a little while before it works the way Ofcom wants it too.

      We will know soon enough.

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

If it does come into action then I will be because I am in process of moving to sky.

I ceased the connection and ordered Sky BB last monday and I got the router last thursday with an activation date of 31st January. I am happy in a way cause it looks like it will take less than 10 days to be on the service.

      Sorry to hear that Keith

I think you have done it the right way as I have a feeling its going to be a nightmare when the rules change and all ISP's are required to supply MAC Codes its going to drive BTW nuts.

      Good luck with your connection.

      @ Wheelie -

      Thanks,

I've been reading these forums for months now, just couldnt be bothered to register until now

I know what you mean about BTW - maybe I'm just being optimistic in thinking they can get it right for me first time

Its strange that they can't migrate with relative ease considering UK Online is one of their companies now - Do they not use the same hardware for Sky as they do with UKO?

Re: LLU to LLU Migrations (UK Online to Sky)

Shame on you being so lazy

BT get it right first time, that will be the day but we can all live in hope I guess

Yes they are but no they are not same kit but to different ISP's and so they have to follow the rules not only that there has never been a path to migrate from LLU to LLU so with luck that will all now change but then again you have to rely on BT to do what that should to make it work.

Sorry but I for one will not be holding my breath.

      @ Wheelie

      Thanks for your support

Once I find out on Wednesday I will let ya know how it goes in the feedback section.

      @ Ace

When you do put through to cancel with UK Online keep calling them. When I 'cancelled' the first time they quoted it would take 10-15 days to cancel and I could order straight away, this was declined by Sky.

I called a few times in the week to check if it was being sorted, nothing and not even BT over the phone/ on the website said nothing was under way. After complaints and emails I called the following Monday, the bloke on the phone went through and processed the cancellation. All went well; BT confirmed the order and the connection were cancelled on time.

When I ordered the connection from Sky they were very helpful, told me all the usual boring bits etc and the order was placed. The bill showed on the Sky Active Area and
BT had the order through almost immediately. The router came through last Thursday, 3 days after order and I now had Sky's letter etc and should be on by Wednesday.

In short go for it, keep on at UK Online keep checking the BT website for updates on cancellations etc.

Sky will look after you, I have never had any trouble so don't worry you will get on in no time. [That is debatable in many cases but I think it is worth it]
