Re: Previous ISP - Before and after joining Sky Broadband

ISP - Telewest / Virgin Media
Speed - 20Mb
Paying - £37
Sky Package - Max
Speed - 10Mb (10542 kbps at the moment, varies up to 113nn kbps)

Probably would have stayed with Virgin but for some of their new policies such as speed throttling - FFS I was on their top dollar package, they were creaming it in. Not too interested in 50Mbps service if they're going to cripple my ability to use it. So off to save squillions each year (12 x £27 = £324) which will help pay for my next Macbook Pro/Air or or 3G iPhone

Re: Previous ISP - Before and after joining Sky Broadband

ISP - Tiscali (joined in the Lineone days)
Speed - 512 Kbits
Paid - £19.99 per month
Sky Package - Mid
Speed - 5 Meg
Join Date - one week ago so cannot comment on Sky service yet

Had mega hassle transferring Broadband with Tiscali four years ago when I moved house. Have also tried to upgrade my package with Tiscali a couple of times in the past to get a better speed for less cost but they were absolutely not interested. Only wished I had moved earlier.

Joined Sky - Free Sky+ and fitting through friend along with 4 entertainment mixes, broadband mid and free evening/weekend call for £24 per month. You do the maths

Speed - 1.5Mbit

Had no problems with Pipex until Tiscali bought them over,i was migrated over to the Tiscali network in January and my download speed dropped from a steady 1500kpbs to usually around 750kpbs,they did nothing to help me or did not care much either,it was time to go as have alot of other people.

Re: Previous ISP - Before and after joining Sky Broadband

I thought I'd share my previous ISP

BOLTBLUE - 2MEG Came with a ATR210 USB MODEM
AOL Broadband - again 2 meg came with a better modem package.

We only moved to sky broadband because my dad wanted it, as AOL was in my name etc. So I agreed because It would work out all I would have to pay would be £5 a month lol and my dad pays the rest.

I would have to say sky is the best so far, Boltblue where awesome but there customer service was crap. AOL where great...

Re: Previous ISP - Before and after joining Sky Broadband

ISP - Zen Internet
Speed - Approx 1.2Mbit
Monthly cost - 17.99
Sky Package - Max
Speed - 1.5-1.8Mbit
Quality of service compared to previous - Worse

Zen was very slow for the attentuation ( 49db with REIN issue ) , but reliable.
Sky is slightly faster, but very unreliable. ( because of REIN issue )
