      16meg Connection, Dial-Up Speed Downloads!

I wonder if I can ask for some advice/help? I know that there are tons of threads similar to this on here, but have so far found nothing in those that have resolved my problem. I am on the Max package & despite my connect speed being close to the maximum 16meg, I am getting download speeds of around 28kbps !!! With my previous ISP (Tesco), I only had the half meg package, but consistently achieved the maximum download speed of 50kpbs+. Therefore I am pretty sure this problem is not related to my exchange or the line, but instead the router? I have attached ,my router settings & stats in case anyone can give me some advice on whether there is anything I can change.

Not sure why you think the problem is with your router.

The more likely explanation is that Sky have not set your connection up properly or there is an exchange equipment fault. You will have to call them and ask them to investigate.

However, should you be right and it is the router then an easy test would be to try another one - do you have a friend with an ADSL2+ compatible router you could borrow?

BTW, I'm assuming you have run the download test wired not wireless?

Re: 16meg Connection, Dial-Up Speed Downloads!

The only reason I presumed the router to be at fault is that I was receiving maximum download speeds from my previous ISP right up until Sky Max was activated, so doubt very much that there is a problem at the exchange.

You are correct in that it could well be Sky's setup....I hadn't really thought of that. I have reported the problem with Sky & I am awaiting a call back from their support department.

I have my previos router from before the Netgear one arrived. It is a Linksys WAG54G, but am not sure if it ADSL+2 compatible? If I remember rightly, using the Linksys router with my previous ISP (Tesco), I needed a user name & password to enter in to the router, but Sky don't give you that as the router is already preset, although please correct me if i'm wrong.

Appreciated your quick response & any further advice you might be able to provide. I feel like I am back in the dark ages with such a sh*t connection!
