      ...and an email from customer service to say that the order has been placed succesfully. This is the first time in the BT order tracker that there's a 'order date' and 'date due' being different from each other; in the past with each failed attempt they've been the same (probably some sort of 'line check')

      Of course, now the fun begins - my MAC code expires on 19 march, so i hope this means they've been able to use it by this stage...

      Right - a couple more emails from the customer service area.

      They've confirmed activation for 27 March. They've even put my mind at rest about the 'expired' MAC code, saying that they've used it to place the order before the expiry date - it doesn't need to stay valid up until the 27 March. Phew.

      So - it looks like I'm finally on my way to Sky...

      ...and I'm on!

      Came back to find the connection deaded, plugged in the Sky Router - and I'm online through Sky!

      Done a speed test, and it came out as 9Mb , which is fine (especially at the peak time, considering AOL drops to 300K) so I'm happy.

      I can probably do better with these stats though...

      Connection Speed 15323 kbps 764 kbps
      Line Attenuation 18.0 db 9.4 db
      Noise Margin 4.9 db 12.5 db

      I've recently place an order for Sky broadband and have been reading through th eposts on this site for the last 3/4 days... I'm really pleased for you - It's good to know it has finally been resolved!!

      It is indeed good to see a result, but personally i'd be bricking it if i'd just ordered after reading this thread!

      Heh - to be honest, yes; but I was very fortunate. Because the order had fouled up earlier on, they never tried to move me across; so I never lost my 'old' connection.

      I've read the '3 day ADSL disconnection' thread, so that's why I'm not dancing in the streets just now - we'll see what happens over the coming week.

      But I'm very happy with things for now!
