Timed wireless access
I am just day's away from going live with my Sky bb package. Have recieved router and letter telling me when, so all looks good so far.....
What I would like to know is:
Is it possible to stop the wireless signal being transmitted at certain times (without unplugging it)?
My 14 year old daughter has been nagging me to get wireless for ages so she can use msn on her laptop upstairs and not fight me for my table top.
What I can see happening is she will "forget the time" and keep using it late into the night.

Re: Timed wireless access
Welcome to the site Tuckkkker
Yes it is possible not so much in timing the wireless but in setting a schedule for any user and applying the rules via the firewall settings.
To do this you would need to go into the router and set a static IP for your daughters PC by doing the following
Make sure her PC is connected
LAN IP Setup > bottom of the page you will see Address Reservation click Add > in the Address Reservation Table you should see her details just add them to the table.
Then goto the Schedule and set the hours you want then goto the Firewall Rules and add the rules for her PC ie: Browser, MSN etc.
Hope this helpsLast edited by Wheelie; 20-01-07 at 01:22 PM.

Re: Timed wireless access
Thanks for that. Have had a look at firewall and schedule, understand it. Will make changes before I go live on the 24th.
Great site, I look forward to contributing to it whenever I can.
