Was anyone elses Sky BB down last night?

I've been on SKy since September with v few problems other than dropouts.

Couldn't get onto internet at all last night - not with PC, Xbox360 etc etc.

Tried multiple routers including Sky router and none worked. The green lights were on saying there was an adsl connection but i coudn't get anything across it.

Seems to me that the problem is somewhere at the sky servers end, but before i start hassling Sky i just wanted to check there wasn't a generic server downtime.

      Normal last night. No problems.

Could be peculiar to your Exchange.
I have only ever had one problem.
It was at my local Exchange but was quickly fixed.
      So check with Sky.

Yeah I had problems last night! My connection has been stable for some time now but I was surfing the net and I suddenly got "page not found" and my msn disconnected, Got straight into the router menu so no problem with my wireless which has been the cause of problems previously, the ADSL light was on and router menu said I was connected but broadband max speed test showed speed "Zero" I disconnected and tried to reconnect to the ADSL in the router menu but then I couldn't reconnect, so I did a reboot router within router menu, still couldn't connect to the outside world! Router status showed "disconnected" At this point I was getting worried! I didn't want the pain of calling Sky! After serveral power cycles of the router and about half hour or so everything sprung back into life "Thank God"!!!
May be unrelated to your problems I dont know.

Re: Was anyone elses Sky BB down last night?

I had absolutely no connection all day yesterday and in fact when i tried this morning, there was still no connection.

Only 2 lights are on, on the router, the power light and the router connection light - NO adsl light, meaning it can't find a connection.

After several reboots, i'm still experiencing the same problem.

I rang Sky yesterday and they told me that the exchange (Cambridge area) was actually being worked on, but normal service would resume around about 5pm (yesterday), its is now Thursday afternoon and i still have nothing - in fact i just tried to ring Sky just now and they hung up on me!!! Arrrgggghh!!

Not really sure what to do now.

Its been running fine since last November when i first signed up!!

I had the same problem last night..(Brentwood, Essex) unable to reset router or reboot... in the end did a System Restore to previous day and that got it back.

Same thing here since Wednesday night (Nuneaton exchange).

Spoken to Sky today who state that my line will only support 2.5mb and the fault is due to Sky trying to shove 16mb down the same line - therefore they are going to cap my line at 2.5mb.

Is this rubish or correct - as it was working fine for the week before ?

They reckon that BT have to do this change and therefore may not be accessible for 48 hours.

If this is the case, what is the recompense ? I am paying for a service which I am not receiving for no fault of my own...

      Cheers

BT DO NOT place caps. (if ur on sky llu). If ur not on sky llu the it is possible.
Sky place the caps as far as im aware. post ur line stats so i can see what u should be getting roughly.

      @shady

NoXioUs is correct as your profile states your on MAX then your an LLU customer and its SkyBB namly tier3 that will cap you, its nothing to do with BT whcih makes a change.

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.
