Do you leave your router on or are you siwtching it off and back on each day.

Every time you boot the router, it will sync with the best rate based on the Noise Margin. If you are going to boot the router each day, then do it at the same time of day so that you are comparing like with like (ie if I boot my router at 7pm on a monday I get 7.5Mb, then if I boot it at 10am on Tues I can get 9Mb, but if I booted again at 7pm I would go back to 7.5Mb).

      Re: is this normal ?

Had to phone Sky twice yesterday about my poor connection speed, each time was told it can take 3 days for the line to get up to full speed....

      don't ask my why though...

Mines synching at 8007 now which is more than yesterday, although there is no training of the line involved on LLU.

      Re: is this normal ?

I'm wondering whether there really is something to Sky's standard "wait 3 days response".

There's certainly no training period for Sky's LLU products but it could be they've implemented some sort of (software based) monitoring system for new connections that evaluates and ramps up connection speed (I struggle to believe that there are manual checks made on lines. If there are, the staff overhead must be extraordinary).

That might also explain the increasing numbers of people who seem to be getting a capped connection immediately on first connection?

Is this something you could investigate NewsreadeR?

      saturday 10am 8.31mb/sec
      saturday 3pm 9.71mb/sec
      saturday 10.50pm 6.9mb/sec

unsure whats happening here the router is rebooting lots today
which it has never done and with having a dynamic ip address
i keep getting problems with gigianews max connections problem
as it reconnects and my old ip is still active at gigianews

can you get static ip from sky ?
