      lol.... bang on Saturday,

      I've got some work to do now though, connected into the initial/master socket (not the test part) disconnected both Sky boxes so only the phone wiring left which leads to the far side of the house, my figures now are...

      Connection Speed 2976 kbps 768 kbps
      Line Attenuation 53.0 db 31.5 db
      Noise Margin 7.4 db 13.0 db

      Any idea why the noise doesn't alter?
      Think I will have to get one of those faceplate jobbies with the rj11 wiring, do you think I will get above 3.5mb with it and the sky boxes plugged in?

      Well you took some persuading but there was a good result in the end

      Phone wiring in the house is particularly good at picking up or generating noise, particularly RF.

      Filtered faceplates are very good at filtering this out so you should get the same speed with one fitted as you do with your test socket.

      Not sure what you mean "with the rj11 wiring"?

      the wiring from router to the RTE5 ASDL socket, whatever thats called.....
