      More bad news from sky

      Phoned sky yet again today to find out where my router is that they told me was sent out on 18.08.06 After getting cut off twice and given a host of different numbers to phone they said "there is a problem with some equipment on the line and your order has be cancelled". What problem I asked I only have a phone and a sky box on the line. Sky then said we don't know you will have to phone BT and ask them. So I phoned BT and they said " sky will have to phone BT wholesale and talk to them. OK I said what's the number, We can't tell you that but sky will have it. So it was back to sky then some bloke said I will sort it out and get back to you tonight. Guess what still waiting sky are now starting to really p*** me off.

      There seems to be a few problems with people getting up and running with sky. I hope it's down to teething problems early doors cos if the service is gonna be like this all the time it doesn't bode too well.

      Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

      sky phoned me today (that's more like it) the bloke on the phone said that thousand of orders had been rejected by BT for no apparent reason he put it all down to BT being awkward due to the amount of business they were losing. The bottom line is he refunded my activation fee and then took details to start the whole process over again. He says if I phone up tomorrow they will tell me if the line application has been successful this time. I wont hold my breath.

      Thanks Newsreader I hope so too. I think they will sort it out this time they said it would take about 10 days. The hard part with Sky is getting to talk to the right people once you do they are ok. Some of them just don't know what they are talking about. Looks like I'm stuck with my dial up for at least another couple of weeks.

      @Leon :

      Unless you are actually getting your broadband from BT
      Just what business are they losing ?

      Its obvious your line rental is and will remain with BT,.... so no loss there.
      And as they receive a fee from the ISP for doing the migration,.... surely that is new business.

      We know BT can at times be a arrogant company, but even they......just love the money

      It costs less for SMPF LLU line rental than IPstream, and also they lose big bucks on the BTw central rental.

      They probably lose around 5/month whenever someone switches from a BT-based broadband (ie: any ISP that uses BT provided wholesale broadband) facility to LLU. They lose even further if you use full LLU with your line rental taken to the other company as well.

      Considering about 100k/month people are being moved to LLU, BT must be losing a lot of money in this dept.
