      Sky Max or is it?

Hopefully you can help, I've had Sky for three days after successfully migrating from V21\Biscit (Yep that lot). I'm allegedly on Sky Max but I have my doubts, therefore I contacted Sky BB Technical Support with my line stats.

Here's part of the reply I received "I have accessed your account and I can see that your maximum line speed is showing as 8192 Kbps. This is determined by the quality of your phone line and the distance of your line between your house and your phone exchange. Because your upstream speed is 768 Kbps, this confirms that your connection is ADSL2+"

      Now here is my line stats;

      1.85km from the exchange

      Mode: G.DMT
      Channel: Interleave
      Trellis: ON
      Line Status: No Defect
      Training Status: Showtime

      Download

      SNR (dB): 7.6
      Attn(dB): 36.0
      Pwr(dBm): 19.8
      Max(Kbps): 8608
      Rate (Kbps): 8032

      Upload

      SNR (dB): 14.0
      Attn(dB): 20.0
      Pwr(dBm): 11.7
      Max(Kbps): 1120
      Rate (Kbps): 768

I have done various line tests at various sites and all confirm that my line should be capable of at least 12mb. Is there anyway I can get my line tested or do I have to take Sky's word for this. I personally think there talking outta there a**e!

      Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: Sky Max or is it?

      Welcome to the site scotusratus

Sorry to tell you this but Mode: G.DMT is upto 8MB the Max should show a Mode: ADSL2+ for the higher speeds.

There are one of two reason for this 1, no more capacity on the exchange for ADSL2+ 2, they have messed up and connected you to the wrong package.

I would be calling TS support back and finding out whats going on
      Ray

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

Cheers for the advice, email is now on it's way back to TS. I really did find this the funniest statement though "your upstream speed is 768 Kbps, this confirms that your connection is ADSL2+" Ehm no it doesn't matey!
