      Non Bt Line?

      Hi guys,

      My name is Keith and I am currently lookin to join Sky Broadband. I was first with UK Online and now have contract cancelled. I know it takes upto 15 days to remove the tag off the line.

      I have been checking each day to see when I am ready to order on the Sky BB site.

      However after just checking it I get the following:
      It looks like you have a cable - or non-BT - phone line. We can only supply Sky Broadband when you've got a working BT phone line. Please ask BT to reconnect your old line, or to install a new one - then come back and try again when you're ready to order your Sky Broadband.

      Please note, once BT activate your telephone line it can take up to 5 working days for them to update their database. You can then check Sky Broadband availability in your area.
      I do have a BT line but why could this be?

      You are not alone is with this problem I take it you pay your line rental to talktalk or the like?

      I would call SkyBB Sales 08705 800874 and ask them about it.

      Free phone may also take you to them not sure 0800 0510317

      Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

      Thanks for the advice Wheelie but I just reliased that as my University is on a Proxy it was checking for some strange reason my university line. I thought it was strange but it seemed to be this problem.

      I am now according to UK Online being cancelled off their system, but could it take the quoted 10-15 days for their LLU marker to be cleared off my line, before I can order Sky BB?

      I was having the same problem last month when moving fromm bulldog to sky.

      I was told that once the line had moved back to BT to ring them and get them to update there data base.
      Then sky could start the ordering procedure.

      Mine was done overnight

      Sorry par4 but thats due to the nature of the bulldog complete package

      @Keith
      Yep that would do it as well, I think you can still call them and place the order though they will not act on it until the markers are clear, from memory there have been a few people that have moved from UK Online to SkyBB this way.

      Hmm I was told I could order SkyBB by UK Online but upon calling Sky on Monday night, there is nothing they can do while I am waiting for the line to be cleared.

      Thats true they cant place the order with BT until the line clears but from memory other have give the order to SkyBB and called them back once the line was cleared.

      I guess they have changed there policy on accepting pre orders?

      By the looks of it I guess so. Is there a way that I can check up on the status of the cancellation, without the need to keep callin UK Online's 0845 number? I have seen the BT Order checker but I still not confident on it.

      There was is number floating around on here for BT Wholesale to check on line tags but I no longer have it. sorry
