Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

As mentioned in another post, the CD does contain the original Sky Firmware which may be useful for restoring if there are problems with your box.

Re: do i have to use the CD?

Quick comment -I got a ghostly voice telling me sky broadband was enabled today. Previously runnig a dial up Virgin net connection. My AVG anti virus software was telling me it needed updating. Gingerly connected my new router powered up then turned my machine on. BEFORE I could load my SKY CD my AVG anti virus software updated itself. and by unticking my dial up I have been able to get all of my virgin net email via Outlook Express 6.
So from what you are saying, if I DO NOT install my SKY Cd it will save me trouble, yes?
Only slight disadvantage I can see so far is I cannot get sky email. Have tried setting it up as new account in line with your excellent posting, but it keeps prompting me for a password. try to enter the password that came with my Sky welcome letter -no good. Guidance appreciated.

I do not know Virgin's policy but my ISP keeps my incoming mail live for 3 months after I leave them - this was also true last time I migrated.
