Angry Connect to Max - My experience

hi all. found out last week my exchange has been unbundled so decided to phone sky and get my upgrade. After the usual 'sorry, wrong department' FOUR times, I spoke to a woman who claimed that my exchange was not unbundled so therefore I couldn't be upgraded at the current time. I informed her that the sky website told me I could choose from base, mid or max when I entered my phone number on 'check availability' she didn't quite know what to say to that! Nothing in the script yet apparently. Anyway, she said I'd be emailed when it was available.
The following day I decided to phone back and spoke to a guy this time. after explaining the above, he said he had done the upgrade, no problem. my line would be on max between 2 minutes and 4 hours. Great. that night I checked and nothing had changed. phoned back and was told it could take upto 24 hours.
Monday lunchtime (first call on Friday) - no change of course. spoke to a woman at sky who said it takes upto 72 hours! Will I ever get onto max? who knows...
anyone else managed to make the move yet?

      Welcome to the site Simon

Really sorry to tell you this but it could well take a lot longer than you have been told, I would go and check the BT Checker to see what thats says ?
Order tracking: Landline orders You will need to register if you don't already have an account, and see if the order has been submitted.

As you are moving from a BT connection to LLU.

Good luck and hope it happens soon for you.

Similar problem I have posted in another thread, exchange has been enables since 21st Dec but apparently Sky are having problems upgrading people onto the LLU packages. I was told it was a really slow process has they don't want to crash the system, but am hopeful it will be done by the end of the month. Also due to the wait I am only getting billed 10 per month (max price) since the 21st Dec until I get moved over.

Re: Connect to Max - My experience

thanks for the tip Ray. had a look at the bt site. do I need to get order number from sky? I can see that taking a while...

I have had a nightmare from the start with sky, just like most of the people on here. I was quite optimistic after speaking with the bloke who said 'yep, thats done, you're account will be upgraded within 4 hours.' when I was then told it would be upto 72 hours, I thought here we go again. how long could it take? I'm sick to death of these charlatans.

gurvy: you seem remarkably calm about the whole thing. if after 72 hours they tell me it won't happen until about the end of the month I shall not be so calm. I signed up on the understanding that once 'max' package was available I would be transfered onto that. I have been told on the phone twice now that the order is in progress. wonder if they will give me free internet until I get upgraded. that is what I will be insisting on.

Re: Connect to Max - My experience

trust me I wasn't calm at first, as I was told when signing up on connect that I would be transferred over immediately as well. But the guy i spoke to was pleasant and it was him who offered the cut price before I could say anything. Obviously he knew the problem was theres and offered a sweetner of sorts, if he hadn't then I probably would have had a major go at him. But I rather they take there time and do it properly instead of hastingly transferring me over then me being plagued by numerous problems over the coming months.

Re: Connect to Max - My experience

I hope it all works out for you Gurvy. Did you have a similar conversation to mine (already shown above)? That is what really makes me angry. I would prefer it if they just came clean and said they are having problems and it might take a month. I'm reasonable. I would have expected a reduction like you got, but being levelled with seems rare nowadays.
Imagine my excitement when finding out I'd be on max package in just a few hours. then it turns to anger. then I'm told 72 hours. no doubt the 72 hours will turn into 14 days, then 30 days. Lies, lies, lies.
I don't know how anyone can work for customer service on behalf of sky. The stress must be enormous

      @Simon

Once you are on that link as long as you have a BT phone account all you need do is register and you should then see any orders placed on your phone line in there.

Unfortunately any changeover from the BT IPStream network to LLU requires OpenReach to go to the exchanges to do the work so your fate is in there hands.

If there is nothing showing then you will have to keep an eye on it and hope the orders show up sooner rather than later

you should see some thing like this 2 orders.

      CEASE BT IPSTREAM MAX
PROVIDE LLU LINE SHARE PSTN 1
