      installation query

I am currently waiting for my Sky Broadband to be activated. My letter says it will be activated by the 4th but it says I can try before such time because the activation may be earlier.

However, in the set up guide in the pack it says it is best not to install SkyBB before the activation date. Why is this and can I install the hardware and contents of the disc before the fourth anyway?

Any answers are much appreciated. I am quite a novice when it comes to this sort of thing!

Well I hooked my router up today, just to check it out... My estimated date of activation is tomorrow, but I am not holding out much hope for that because of all the delays.

It was just good to see it was all there and ready to go.

Its not a problem to connect early, if you log onto to the router and check the connection status it will say CHAP authentication failed, meaning your line has not been migrated to Sky.

You can use wireless if you are connected via it. But if you change some of the wireless settings it will drop you and you have to reconnect.

I'm not activated yet, although i'm supposed to be today sometime. Does this mean i can't log onto the router, because i just tried and it didn't work.

You can, are you connected via wireless?

      Click Start > Run
      Type cmd click ok
In the black window type ipconfig press return

      What's the IP address?
