      What's needed for Sky BB

New poster here, recently got Sky installed in our flat, using a shared dish. We don't have an active BT phone line, so the salesman said we could get a non-phone line install if we paid 25 upfront fee. Fair enough, now we've been on Sky for a while and would like to get the MID package. We were told that we wouldn't need a phone line to get broadband, hence why we agreed to the 25 charge. Can anyone confirm this?

Now I think about it I can't remember what that 25 payment was for, it might have been for Sky to install a BT line or something. Anyway I'm sure one of you can clarify

      Hi

You would definitely need a BT phoneline to get Sky BB, as for the 25.00 I don't know where that charge would have come from.

afaik, Telewest charge a refunded 25 if you are new this is a part of their credit check procedure?

Maybe this is what BT/Sky does?

The 25 fee is due to the fact that you have non subsidised box and install.

The reason for having to have a phone line connected to the box (for the 1st 12 months anyway) is that Sky get subbed by some 'media' company (can't remember who exactly) in the hope that the customer will order movies and pay for online games/goods etc.

I feel it's always worth looking up details of an offer before actually signing up, that's what the nets for isn't it?

Re: What's needed for Sky BB

The 25 charge is for having a sky install, without a phone line.
      Simple as that.
      Sky Broadband Opinion? -- Excellent.
      Sky Broadband Uptime? -- Flawless.
      Sky Broadband Speed? -- Perfect.

Sky Broadband.. It rocks the socks.
