    Cant connect to the internet anymore

      Cant connect to the internet anymore

      Im having problems at the moment connecting to the internet. I basically get page cannot be displayed on all pages.

      My netgear router is showing I'm connected and my PC thinks it is but I cant actually access any pages or online games.

      I'm with Sky Broadband and have changed nothing in the last few days. Everything has been fine with my connection for the last couple of months.

      I've reinstalled my network adapter drivers and rebooted the router.

      When I try to repair the connection I get an error stating 'clearing the DNS cache' failed which is worrying... I have no idea what this means but have never had it before....

      Update

      Hmmmm. Rang sky yesterday and they ran a few tests. It appears my PC is not able to allocate an IP address.

      I've been passed to second line support and am awaiting a call back...

      Still open to any suggestions though!

      Is it the PC or router that cannot obtain an IP? If its the router its a sky problem, if its the PC try setting a manual IP and put the DNS server in as the IP of the router.

      Hi, thanks for that. I tried with Sky support inputting an IP address on my PC manually but no joy.

      Checking the router it doesn't receive an IP address so I'm guessing its their problem. I'm awaiting a call back.
