Angry SMPF - AOL to Sky

Help!!! I've just spent countless hours going from BT to AOL to Sky and need advice please.

I'm trying to move from AOl to Sky (MAC already given to Sky), however, my subsequent phonecall with a Sky Broadband staff member, following a letter I received a day before the modem was due to be delivered, has made me lose the will to live!!!

According to info Sky has received from BT, it suggests that my line is incompatible due to a code given to them by BT. This incompatibility code is 'SMPF'.

I have called BT, who do not understand Sky's problem, and AOL are finding this all very funny and are no doubt taking delight that I'm having so much hassle trying to switch from them!!

I understand that AOL maybe using LLU in my area and that according to the SKY FAQ, Sky will not accept MAC numbers from LLU users.

So my question here please is - is the SMPF linked to LLU and if so, is this problem resolved simply by closing my AOL account down completely first before applying for Sky Broadband once more?

      Thanks

SMPF = shared metalic path facility or in simple words LLU

It would appear that you are already on LLU and iirc you will have to cancel and wait for it to be ceased before going to Sky.
