You can use your own router, but only once you have received your Sky one.

Can I Use my own Router with Sky Broadband?

Have you rang to find out where it is?

I had the same problem as you bryan, I was activated on a Monday and my old connection to BT Yahoo stopped working so I had no internet access. I called Sky up and the bloke there and then typed out a email to somebody else who said they would look into this. I have to admit doing it this way did not fill me with confidance but it worked as my Sky router turned up two days later on the Wednesday.

I rang them today and at first the bloke said it had been sent out but then I told him I knew lots of people hadn't received theirs either. He tried to say that many got delivered to the wrong address!! I said if this was so why didn't they use recorded delivery.

Then he said he didn't know who his boss was after being there for a month when I asked to speak to a manager! The whole thing sounds badly organised. Hopefully he will get the router sent out soon...

Similar problem here....see my other posts.

I called today to ask about an update, they said a letter has been sent out to you with your activation date, so you should receive you box soon, then he did a double take when he realised the activation date was on the 20th (the date the letter was sent out - which I haven't received yet!) I also got a voice mail call yesterday (21st) telling me my Sky Broadband was active.

Where it gets really weird is that I am still connected to my old ISP, but at 3mb instead of the old 512.

Oh, and he has no record of my box being on the despatch list. FFS!

      Go figure.

OK so yesterday I got some sort of text message by phone stating great news my BB was now active and there was an attempt to deliver the router by Parceline just after I had gone out.

So I checked SAYNOTO0870.COM - Non-Geographical Alternative Telephone Numbers to find a local phone number for the Edinburgh depot and arranged for delivery today. It has now arrived and I got connected up fairly quickly.

I am getting 6636 Kbps which isn't bad on the mid product.

Glad you are up and running ok.

I'll let you know when and if I get my router, although after receiving the same text message as you and yet still being connected to my old ISP fills me with dread for the next series of problems....
