Odd phone call
I ordered Sky BB online last Sunday (11th December) - having got my MAC from Plus Net. Received the router and a letter saying that my activation date is Wednesday 20th December - no problems. I've just had a weird phone call, apparently from Sky asking whether I wanted the line activating today, which I said yes to. Then the guy asked me if I already had BB and whether I had a MAC - which I said yes to as well. Then after holding on the phone for a few minutes he came back and said that he'd pass the information onto his 'superiors' who would be in touch again in a couple of days.
I have no idea what that was all about. My Plus Net connection is still live and chugging away merrily. Has anyone else had this or know what on earth it was?!!

sounds like the call was more likely from plusnet to see if you are actually going to leave.
never heard of sky calling in this way and they certainly would not be able to activate you if the other connection is still active as it has to be disconnected first.
check on bt's order page to see what the status of your order is,

Welcome to the site thejollyswagman
If it could be done earlier than the 20th then Openreach would just do it and a few members have said they have been activated earlier than planed and since SkyBB have no control over these dates I would take that call as being some kind of prank. Always follow the advice given above and remember its better to be safe than sorry.
Good luck when it does happen.Ray

Thanks guys - it was definately Sky BB - or at least that's who they said it was! They never asked for any personal information - and wouldn't have got any anyway. Strange!
