      FTP transfer speeds

Connected yesterday. Successfully set up wireless tonight. Was getting about 1750 kbs on ethernet, and about 1500 on wireless.

I now want to be able access my server a work and wonder what dictates my transfer speed. I have FTP Server software on the pc at work with no restrictions on speed. The speeds of the two machines are as follows:-

Work server download 2mbs upload 256kbs
home pc download 2mbs (getting 1500) upload 440 kbs (getting 350)

how does this work - i cannot understand what is the limiting factor. The lowest speed is the upload speed of the server, so is this the critical number

      Thanks

Reverse the figures for a guideline

ie the fastest your work server can give you is 256kbs
