Less than 2mb is that it ?

Got connected on the 5th Dec, Speed has been going up and down but the couple of days It's been constantly 1856k down, 416k up.

I had nearly 3meg for a day and it was fine, My brother inlaw is around the corner and getting nearly 4meg. (I am closer to the exchange)

      My line Stats are
Connection Speed 1824 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 61.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 7.6 db 13.0 db

My inlaws are pretty much the same.

with ur line attenuation at 61db, your a fair distance away from the exchange hence the slowish speed.

wouldnt be too annoyed with it as have seen customers with 512 is there top speed!

Might be worth trying the test socket behind the main phone point to see if any extensions / dodgy wiring is causing interference.

I'm a long way from the exchange and here are my stats (note the 63dB) with a filtered faceplate installed:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2720 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 63.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 10.4 db 13.0 db

Now Simply twice the speed of a MODEM...

      Hello Guys,

I've been connected to Sky since the begining of December but I've had about one weeks worth of successfull Internet usage. I've eventually got my Internet connection working - But now it's at a pittifull 128 kbps Upload/Download ... Not much more than double a Modem speed!

My Downstream Noise Margin is looking pretty hefty (Please see below)- is there anyway I can reduce this to something like 9db ? Could this be slowing me down to near snails pace? Just so you know I'm only about 745 klicks from my exchange (as the crow flies) and I could walk to it in 10 mins (as the Twobob Walks!). I have had BT run line tests and there isnt any fault according to them.

I've tried different sockets but Im getting no where - I'm going to try this in the Test socket in the morning but I havent got any other lines coming from my Master (the extentions are simply plugged into the master socket.) If this doesnt work what opther options do I have?

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 128 kbps 128 kbps
Line Attenuation 21.0 db 15.0 db
Noise Margin 33.0 db 13.0 db

      Many Thanks in advance

      TB...

      FYI
I've just recently (after waiting two weeks!!!) got a replacement router from Sky as mine was broken, and even after performing my own diags to conclude that it was the router it took Tier three almost a week to figure this out so I'm only going to loose my patience with them if I have to call them again.

Cheers Hugsie - I had feared that! I'll give them a wake up call ...

At this rate Sky will be owing me with the amount of phone calls I've had to make to them. I Really do feel for the Sky users that arent too Technical or know how these 'help desks' work. Out of 5 calls to them about my faulty Router only one person was actually helpfull and didnt try to fob me off with 'Techno-jargon'.
