      Changing from Max to Mid - max sync?

      Hi,

      At the moment I sync at 8096Mb on Max, which appears to be capped at 8Mb as my NM is 10db. However sky insist there isn't a cap on my line, even thou before the last few days I could sync a lot higher with the NM targetting the 6.9db level.

      If I change to the Mid package, will I still sync at the 8Mb or is the technology for Mid different to Max? I don't want to move to Mid and suddently find I drop to 4Mb (which was the speed I got on ADSLMax with plusnet).

      I know Base is ADSL1 and from what I read Mid is ADSL2 and max is ADSL2+, but how does this actually impact your max sync rate?

      Cheers.

      12 Month contract states you can upgrade but not downgrade within the 1st year and the T&C's should clearly state UPTO 16Meg

      Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

      @reddwarfcrew

      Looks to me like you're capped. Interrogation of your router will reveal what mode of ADSL you're on as well as the maximum that mode is capable of on your line. If you're not sure how, pop over to the tech forum.

      I've not been able to find out for certain which Sky LLU product uses what ADSL mode. Sky Base certainly looks like plain (non ADSL Max) ADSL1. Sky Max is certainly ADSL2+ but Sky Mid? My guess would be that it is a capped ADSL2+ in the same way that Sky Max is.

      Thanks guys, yes I'd already found out that my profile is ADSL1 and not ADSL2+ (by looking at the raw stats from telnet) so am waiting for sky to change it (now that they have finally agreed with me that my profile is wrong).

      I know that you cant downgrade, but if they aren't providing the service at their choice then they will downgrade you.
