      I do remember at least up to 4 years ago that you could ask BT to change the "line gain".

      This would help improve dialup modem connections.

      I guess BT can still do this, but not sure what it means to ADSL though, sorry.

      Changing the gain has an adverse effect on ADSL lines, and is not recomended

      I has this done years ago when I was on dialup and it improved dialup immensely, could that line gain change still be on my line and be causing me issues on my line with Broadband, can I ask BT to reset the gain to normal levels?

      @boab2791

      It could well be worth calling them and asking the question, but it may have been put back to normal when ADSL was provisioned on your line. Until you ask, you will not know

      There is no gain control for the ADSL signal. The signal is automatically transmitted at the right power for the line conditions. The audio gain for voice can be turned up and down like the volume control but it has no influence on ADSL.
