      Poor Connection at night?

hi. I have sky broadband max, and my connection is unreliable and just plain slow from about 6 o'clock in the evening onwards. In the morning and afternoon i get download speeds of 8Mbps or there abouts according to http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/

but in the evening and night time my connection drops to 2Mbps and lower, deteriorating even further a few minutes after rebooting my router, whether manually or in the router diagnostics

can anyone shed some light on this problem? is it simply due to a busy exchange? and if so, is there anything at all i can do?

here are my router stats at the present time:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8401 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 42.5 db 23.3 db
Noise Margin 7.2 db 12.0 db

      cheers

I think contention is to blame here!
Alot of the people on your exchange might decide to browse and download during the evening!

Many might put large files on download and go out?

I would blame contention as well, because it is regular and at peak time, tbh I think this will become the norm for most internet users on a busy exchange.

Bear in mind everyday more and more users will get signed up. I could be wrong though, its just the times that point to it.

How do you find out how many other people are connected to Sky LLU on your exchange?

lol.. yeah talk about random stuff and then slowly bring in the question about contention and then ask them how many people are on your exchange with sky and they just accidentally let it out lol

I had the same problem, lowering your down stream will stabilise the connection. PM me & I'll give you the direct phone number for Tier 3.
