rayrad, without sounding rude, you are paying for up to 16mb as for slow downloads etc, someone else maybe be better at answering

sure - but when it's half the speed of my old BT 2MB package - there's got to be a bit of false advertising there!

It could be just a glitch though which could be sorted to your satisfaction. Like I say someone will be along shortly to help or offer some advice

As for advertising that is a minefield, looking around at various forums, the words UP TO, UNLIMITED etc seem to be a completely definition than what me and you define, if that makes sense.

Not having a go, just making you aware that most ISP's use those terms and up to covers from 1mb to 16mb, even OFCOM have agreed to that definiton.

Hope you get it sorted soon

      absolutely

just been cursing the bloody thing ever since we got it - and, first day here, had to let off some of that steam!

if anyone can actualy explain why i might be getting such terrible speeds when i don't appear to be capped, i would VERY grateful!

I am going to split your posts into your own thread so we can carry on with this without hijacking the main thread.

I will give you some things to try in the minute

Try this thread for disconnections lockups etc

Router Freeze, Loss of Connection Possible Fix

Try this one for speeds etc

      Optimising your Broadband Connection

As for the speed issues, if you have just been connected today may take some time to resolve ie a few hours.

rayrad, I know it may sound obvious but have you tried connecting via the test socket in your master socket?
