      Failed Order

      Hi Guys n Gals

I was sent over to these forums by a mate - he said you lot could probably help me with my Sky Broadband problems! (I Hope )

I rang up sky on 16th November to order Broadband and was told I can only have the connect offering at the moment, but would be moved onto Mid by around xmas time. Ok I thought, lets do it. 17th November I received a letter from sky telling me my username for their service. No problems so far.

Yesterday I called them up to ask when my line would be enabled as it did not say in their letter. I was told that the order had failed as my postcode did not match bt records for my telephone number! I phoned up BT customer service to make sure it was correct (i've been getting my bills etc ok from them, but just to check) and was told that there was no problem! I got back on the phone to sky and explained that BT had checked my address, and was told that it sometimes just happens as a 'glitch in the system'. I decided to get sky to try again, and they charged me another 40 connection, and said that the previous 40 that I had already been paid would be refunded - strange way of doing things but ok.

This morning i've just got off the phone to sky to check if it's OK this time, and guess what - 'Your order has failed as your postcode does not match your telephone number. Contact BT for assistance and then call us back when it's fixed'.

What am I to do?? I've made sure that BT have the correct address. Sky have now had 80 from me (Not going to count any refunds until I actually get it back on my account)

      Any ideas guys????

      (Very frustrated)

      Mike,

I've no idea why your postcode doesn't match their records. I presume that you have asked Sky what they have your postcode down as. It is unlikely that the error is with BT.

With regards the failed order, mine failed first time and the 40 refund did occur so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

My only other gripe is that as of the weekend my service disappeared....

      Thanks for the reply Martin,

I've checked that sky have the correct address for me, and they have! It is good to hear that the refund did come back ok for you - i'll rest a little easier now!

I'm still puzzled why my order has now failed twice because some system somewhere says i do not live where i live!!!!!!!!

      Welcome to the site Mike

Sorry to read about your problems mate but as you are a Sky customer and your details would seem to be correct for Sky TV then some one on the SkyBB side are messing up, Call this number ( 0207 7053000) and ask to speak to the Customer Relations Team and explain it all to them.

      Good luck

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

Hi Wheelie, and thanks for the welcome!

I'll give that number a call and see what they say. Just out of interest is it BT or Sky customer relations that number is for??

Personally i would take a failed order with sky as a fantastic sign of things that are likely to come.

Get out now while you still can, ive had just a horrible experience with sky and i would wish it on anyone.

ive learnt that free is never the best to go for you get what you pay for.

You pay peanuts you will get monkeys

      At Last

      My router has just arrived.
The number given above was for TV customer services. The girl tried to help but couldn't talk to anyone from broadband as the queues were too long.
Luckily the box arrived second time.
