Help with slow connection speed please

      Hello,

I've recently got my line to live. My package is the Sky Broadband Unlimited and has 8 MBPS minimum DL speed advertised. The speed check from the Sky website consistently comes back as 1 MBPS or less. I've gone through all the suggested solutions they have on the website, and none of them had changed anything. I was hoping someone can weigh in here.

I'm putting in the router stats in the hope that it helps some. Thanks a lot.

Your line attenuation suggests it should be faster, how long has it been live? New connections go through an automatic training period to set the best speed for the line, I think it lasts about 10 days. Avoid turning the router off during this period as this can be seen as a disconnection and cause the speed to be reduced until a stable speed is reached. If the connection remains stable you should see the speed step up over the 10 days until the best speed is achieved, assuming there are no problems with your line.
If thing donít improve give Sky a call.

Going on 4 days. I've spoken with someone at Sky and all they asked me to do for now is change the channel used by the hub. Is there anything that can be done to lessen line attenuation?

The line attenuation is good, similar to mine and I’m getting 10mb, but your noise margin is high, that may be to do with DLM, Line management / Training period. Your router is synced with the exchange at 1mb so changing the WiFi channel isn’t going to make any difference.

dlm should be running but looks like your profile is not going up with noise margin of 14 down and 22 up should profile at least 8 mb down and 1mb up but if not moved by 10 days would indicate some sort line fault or noise/interference causing dlm to keep line reading low , if you have telephone connected dial 17070 select option 2 to do a noise check (it plays your voice back) check for crackling hissing or humming

Thanks everyone for your input. The speed seems to have been sorted out after several days. It was all a matter of going through that connection training period.
