If your laptop and computer have uPNP on and that the router has uPNP on you could connect that way?

You dont need uPnP swicthed on. I have my Pc and Laptop both wirelessly connected to the router and have access to all files on both (again via the router) and don't have uPnP switch on.

You just need to get your settings right including any firewall software (even if you have uPnP on).

@Drew22 - I've done this with one wired PCs and 2 wireless laptops. I ran the 'Network Setup Wixard' on XP on the wired PC, and selcted all the defaults and ended up with the standard 'MSHOME' Workgroup that XP creates. I selcted the option to share files and printers. After that, I went into 'System Properties' in Control Panel on the first laptop. In Control Panel, I chose 'Computer Name', and made sure that the Workgroup was the same as the one my wired PC created.

I repeated the steps on the other laptop.

I then created the shares on the wired PC that I wanted the laptops to be able to share, mapped the drives on the laptops, and that was my network.

      Hope that helps mate.
