You're not missing much with the portal unless you specifically want an email address ending in @sky.com.

Better option is googlemail (PM me if you want an invite).

Googlemail allows you to also use POP3 for mail collection in outlook express etc and has 2GB of storage space.

      So does Sky.

Yes that's why I suggested googlemail as it offers the same as sky with regards to email. Not sure how much storage space sky offers?

With the recent tie up between sky and google, the offerings will be pretty much the same I would have though when 'sky google mail' is launched.

For me, I dont see the point in percivering (i know that aint spelt right!) with sky's portal if you are having problems when googlemail does the job.

Thanks, that's handy to know. MIL is used to using Outlook Express, and I recently told her she would have to stop using it (problems with her original dial-up Wanadoo email and then I discovered it won't work with free Hotmail accounts anymore!). I might take you up on that, if they don't sort it soon.

However, don't they allow on-line billing through the portal? Not 100% sure on that. Also, I think she feels that if she has paid for something she wants ALL of it to work!

      Re: Tier 3 information

Just thought I would give you my 2p worth.

I've had the Max package for a little while now and have been fairly happy.

I started off at 9000ish down and 756 down.
      I saw fluctuations between 9000 and 12000.

It then stuck at 8000 for a while and I was happy at that, then it went to 7000.
Last week it dropped to 2048 and 256.

Now I've had a couple of calls opened with Sky before this happened.

      1) - No sync light on router. Turned out to be the router and I got a replacement.
      2) - No sync light. lasted for an evening then all ok the next day.

I raised a call with Sky regaring the 2MB download speed and they passed it to T3.
I called yesterday for an update as T3 had not called me and to my surprise they has closed the call saying that I was receiving 2MB link.

I wasn't best pleased to say the least.

I have another call open on Pri call back, so maybe this time I get the speed uncapped. I was quite happy at 8MB, but would love to try for 12MB again.

I can understand that they would sometimes drop the sync speed to give a more stable connection, but the calls I raised were not really regarding that.

Oh well.. I'll wait and see..

      Re: Tier 3 information

Anyone have an email address for Teir 3. My broadband has been down since saturday and while I call the helpline (Tier 1 presumably), the best they can offer is to wait in the queue for Tier 3, which is a 40 minute wait !!

      Thanks, IMaC

      Re: Tier 3 information

Think the e-mail address was a few pages back somewhere!

Don't know if anyone has but could someone explain exactly what Tier 1 2 and 3 employees should be doing in terms of their duties?

Personally think that tier 1 and 2 is dispanded so that there's only tier 3 that we speak to direct as it seems they have the answers generally. Would save a lot of time!
