I wasn't charged any activation fee and they definitely said Max.

Is there anyway online I can find out ... or do I have to phone them up ??

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

Ok - I'll give them a call later.

I'm still very impressed .... speed tests are giving results of 6500 - 6800 ... twice as fast as I used to get with Plus

      Woohoo....activated

Got home last night...typed in the sky username and password into my old routers set up....worked like a treat. So unplugged the old router and plugged in the new one...worked like a treat also...no problems

I only popped for the FREE package and am getting the same speed as I ever did with Plusnet....but for FREE instead of 15/month...saving 180 a year...woohoo...

I cant believe it worked so easily...maybe me and Adam are the lucky ones!

Still cant get onto the Sky Portal mind....can you Adam?

Just need to sort things out with Plusnet now...do I need to contact them to cancel my package with them or should it be sorted automatically...also still need to sort out phone line rental too...still not sure who Im paying that to, but been told by Plusnet that they cant provide it anymore!

      Thats very good news Jim

Your not alone a lot more people have the same experiences that you both had

As for the portal that could be a problem as some people can get on it and some cant, I have never been able to get on it and I have been with SkyBB for nearly 3 months now but I can still use my email via my email client. Nit that I use it as I have quite established email address anyway

      Good luck mate.

Can't get into the Portal either

And whilst the same username/password let's me retrieve email via OE/Thunderbird, I need to set up additional email addresses which can only be done via the portal as I understand it [ I have my own domain name which is currently forwarding emails to @sky.com ].

Also, if some people can get on whilst others can't .... why is Sky Technical Support saying the reason I can't get on is because "the box the portal is on is down .... and we don't know when it will be back up"

I just keep getting .... "You do not have the required permissions to access this service" !!!

      Two Questions:

      1) What is the best contact number to use for SKY....I'll give them a ring about the portal....mainly because I'm on the BASE package it's interesting to keep track of my usage.

      2) Do I need to contact Plusnet to cancel my old package now?

BTW phoned BT and got my rental transferred back to them now....no probs

I think the problem, for me at least, might to be to do with multple usernames.

I read something an another thread here about logging into Sky.com .... I tried that with the username/password on the letter and I got in but with a whole load of profile information from 6/7 years ago !!!!!

I am going to have to phone them up I think.

Wouldn't waste your time!! I have tried 3 times and they are useless they just say, "We Know" "and we dont know when it will be fixed"
Also I am worried about pushing them into mucking about the account too much incase they balls it up altogether! I have heard some horror storys about people having there accounts reset/restarted then having to wait 30 days to be reconnected! The rest of mine is working well at mo apart from portal.
