Smile Please help! I'm a total novice!

      Hi there
We have signed up to Sky Broadband Max package. Sky had their engineers install everything (3 of them came!) and overall, we haven't been very impressed. We were previously with Tiscali Broadband and that was fine.
Everyone on here keeps quoting various stats - where do I go to get those so that I can put the speeds etc on here for someone to help me? I really want to speed things up as sometimes, it seems to be powered by a mouse in a wheel it is so slow!
      Thanks in advance

      Unhappy

Ok. So having read other posts, here are my router stats:

      Connection speed downstream 5728kbps
      Connection speed upstream 768kbps
      Line attenuation downstream 43.0db
      Line attenuation upstream 27.5db
      Noise margin downstream 5.8db
      Noise margin upstream 14.0db

Is this good? Bad? Terrible? Explain ridiculously slow speed?

      Please help me improve things!

Line attenuation downstream @ 43db seems a bit high but also the length you are from the exchange can make a difference, have you tried your master socket.

I wouldn't say that was a "ridiculously low" speed. However, your stats suggest a potential connection speed of ~9000kbps.

Please read this for more info:

Then try your router in the test socket. If your connection speed improves then you will benefit from improving your connection filtering.
