      Connected in Wembley..

Finally.. OK, so my activation date was today, got home, saw that Demon had disconnected at around 9:15, got my desktop machine up and running with little or no problems (That said, it would appear that all icons, including the ones on this site, are showing up as red x's), but my laptop was another story entirely. The encryption on the Netgear router is set to WPA, my laptop is that old, the builtin wireless was WEP only, after talking to someone at Sky who told me they only support the router "And I don't really know that much about XP", and doing a long net search, I managed to find a driver for a Prism that SEEMS to have worked, just in time for the battery to die on the laptop. Oh I did try switching the encryption on the router from WPA to WEP, but on pressing SET it just hung on me, resulting in me having to reboot the router.
No matter, we're up and running, both on the desktop and laptop so for now I'm a happy boy!

Just need to fix those red x's, but I think that's probably an IE setting (WHAT? GET FIREFOX YOU FOOL!!)

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

I think they're on a bonus for not finishing the Stadium till 2020..
Let me see, I called Demon on the 9th August for a MAC code, got that emailed straight away, called Sky on either the evening of the 9th or the 10th, ordered the Max service, got the confirmation letter with activation date (22nd) about 6 days after that on the same day the router arrived, everything was switched over as said, on the 22nd. According to Sam Knows I'm 1.63km from the exchange but I think the cable must go via Norwich as, depending on what speedtest I use, I can't clock over 3950 for download speeds, but hell, 10 for almost 4meg as opposed to 45 for less than 1? That'll do for me!

Heh, not quite.. Long story.. Here goes.. Signed up for Demon ADSL trials back in 2000, got on, ethernet kit for free.. Trial ended 9 months later, no-one turned up to pick the kit up, no-one disconnected the line, 5 years later I still had the connection and hadn't been billed. One day a bill turned up for a month of BT managed service plus dial up, totalling around 55 with the VAT, no one cottoned onto the 5 years without paying, I swallowed the cost till I THOUGHT I'd switch to Be*, Sky happened first!
