still better than bt 1mb for 30 quid lol
      HI Thanks for the comments

BT tell me if i moved on their adsl package they would reduce me to 512KB due to customer demand on the exchange.

looks like the sky option is worth signing up for if i ended up with double what i get now and TV i would be happy and be paying less

      Welcome to the site jph160

At the end of the day if you do want better speed then you are getting now and cheaper I would opt for the Mid package or the Max package if you don't want a cap.

Good luck in whatever you chose to do.

I would take what BT say with a pinch of salt. As My dad is with BT and he called to cancel and go with someone else as BT told him he would only ever get 1meg and they upgraded him to 2meg and it sure connects at 2 meg but he only gets about1.5-1.75meg but still better than what BT origionally told him a few weeks earlier. Amazing what can be done when your about to leave.

Thats not really a surprise they don't like losing customers and will say or do anything to keep people from leaving and they are not the only ISP to do it either.

Of course the other problem is if you sign up to Sky, you could end up with no broadband at all for weeks on end. But at least all the calls to support will kill the time you'd waste on-line anyway.

I've gone from 8Mb to 56k thanks to sky.

      Moved to sky

      Hi again all

signed up to sky BB mid package on 23rd November got mac code from Bt same day

BT site stated LLU change today although no letters from sky yet

just plugged in sky router which arrived 3 days ago and i have figures below
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5408 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 15.5 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 7.6 db 13.0 db

considering i onky had 1mb for BT for 29.99 i am very happy

cant log in to sky broadband portal yet although i have user name & password assume thats because sky havent authorised me yet?

      i get the message

"You do not have the required permissions to access this service"

connection been on for 4 hours and no problems so far
